2011 Primary Program September 25th

Sing “Scripture Power” while walking up to the stand.

Name: Dexter Stephens

This year in Primary our theme is “I Know the Scriptures are True”. We have been challenged to read the scriptures daily, and we know this will give us the “power” to choose the right. We also know, through our study of the scriptures, we can learn what Heavenly Father’s plan is for us, the mission of Jesus Christ, the role of the prophets, the Restoration of the Church, and the blessings of the temple. The scriptures invite the Spirit into our Primary and homes as we read and study them, and through the influence of the Holy Ghost, our Primary can proudly declare, “I know the Scriptures are True!”

Name: Cohen Berry

The scriptures are the word of God.

Name: Naomi Ruehlen

We are to feast upon the words of Christ.

Name: Sharidan Earl

The words of Christ will tell us all things we should do.

Name: Timothy Zeman

I can know the scriptures are true.

Name: Camryn Carbine

Nephi said we should “Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” When you hear the word “feast” you think of a large meal, and you eat and eat until you are full. The word “feast” also means to delight or gratify. If we take Nephi’s challenge, we will take great happiness in reading the scriptures as much as we can, and we will be blessed with the Spirit in our lives to help us make right choices.

Sing – “If I Listen With My Heart” (program 2011 book pp 28)

Name: Shyanne Earl

The Scriptures tell of Heavenly Father’s Plan. “For behold, this is my work and my glory – to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.” (Moses 1:39). When you bake cookies, you need to read the recipe and carefully follow the instructions, and in the end you are rewarded with delicious cookies. Like a recipe, the scriptures give us step by step instructions on how to live our lives. If we follow those instructions, we will be able to live with our Heavenly Father again.

Name: Jonathan Earl

Heavenly Father has a plan for me.

Name: Hayden Scharf

I will follow God’s plan.

Sing “I Will Follow God’s Plan For Me” (p 164-165)

Name: Jeffrey Nadybal

“What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, … whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.” (D&C 1:38). Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ send messages to people on earth by speaking to Their Servants and then commanding those servants to speak to the people. In the scriptures we can read what They have said through the Prophets of old, and we can be blessed by following their teachings.

Name: Emma Zeman

We are blessed to be led by a living prophet today. His name is Thomas S. Monson

Name: Abbie Halladay

We can know what Heavenly Father wants us to do by listening to His prophets speak in conference, and by reading their messages in the Friend magazines.

Name: Spencer Zeman

If I follow the prophet, Heavenly Father will protect and bless me.

Sing “Stand for the Right” (p 159)

Name: Julia Darley

Before we came to earth, Heavenly Father presented a plan to everyone in heaven. Because we were going to have agency and make mistakes while we were here on earth, we needed a Savior; someone who would live a sin free life, and be willing to atone for our sins, and give his life for us. Jesus loved us and our Heavenly Father so much that he volunteered to be our Savior.

Name: Zoe Ruehlen

Heavenly Father was happy with Jesus, and He chose Jesus to be our Savior.

Name: Bryson Stephens

Jesus was the only person who has lived on the earth who has set the perfect example for us to follow.

Name: Brenna Knight

I can follow Jesus’ example by loving and serving others.

Name: Logan Barlow

The Atonement of Jesus Christ saves us from sin.

Name: Amy Darley

When we sin, we become unclean. When we repent, the Atonement cleanses us from sin and we are forgiven.

Name: Hailee Berry

When Jesus was resurrected, He made it possible for me to be resurrected too.

Sing “Third Article of Faith” (p 123)

Name: Ryan Tsimanis

After Jesus died, the people became wicked and His gospel and priesthood were taken from the earth.

Name: Paige Ruehlen

This was called the Apostacy, and the people were in spiritual darkness – like having their eyes closed spiritually – until Jesus restored His Church through Joseph Smith.

Name: Matthew Halladay

Joseph Smith received the Golden Plates from the Angel Moroni, and translated them into the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.

Name: Andrew Earl

After Christ’s Apostles died, the priesthood authority was lost. God restored the priesthood through Joseph Smith.

Name: Hunter Lueck

John the Baptist conferred the Aaronic Priesthood to Joseph Smith; and Peter, James and John conferred the Melchizadek Priesthood to him. With the Priesthood power now on the earth again, Jesus Christ’s Church could be restored. Joseph Smith is the prophet of the Restoration.

Sing “Praise to the Man” verses 1 and 3 (Hymn 27)

Name: William Metzer

Our faith in Jesus Christ, like a seed, can grow if we nurture it. When we follow the example of Jesus, our faith grows, and doing these things will lead us to love and trust Jesus Christ and keep his commandments.

Name: Spencer Lueck

The Atonement of Christ makes it possible for us to be forgiven of our sins. People who have repented and have been forgiven of their sins have a desire to serve God. The stories of Alma baptizing in the Waters of Mormon, Jonah serving a mission, and the Anti-Nephi-Lehies burying their swords, are all examples of stories from the scriptures of people who repented and then served the Lord.

Name: Cason Knight

When I am baptized, I make a covenant with my Heavenly Father. I promise to remember Jesus, obey His commandments, and to “bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light.” We help Jesus by helping and serving others. When I am nice to someone who is being teased, being a friend to someone who is alone, or visiting someone who is sick, I am doing as Jesus would do if He were there.

Name: Garrett Metzer

The Holy Ghost comforts and guides me. When I’m not sure what to do, or when I’m sad, I can pray and receive answers or comfort through the Holy Ghost.

Sing “Fourth Article of Faith” (p 124)

Name: Seth Darley

“Whenever the Lord has had a people on the earth who will obey his word, they have been commanded to build temples…” Throughout the scriptures we can read of many prophets who were commanded to build temples. Because we live in a time when the Gospel is on the earth, we have temples on the earth again, today. The temple is literally the house of the Lord. It is “a place where the Lord may come, it is the most holy of any place of worship on the earth.”

Name: Brooke Carbine

The pioneers worked hard and sacrificed to build temples. The Saints were very poor when the Lord commanded them to build the Kirtland temple. The men hauled stones from the quarry and built the temple. The women sewed curtains and made carpets. They later spent years building the Nauvoo Temple. Again, sacrificing their time and talents to follow the commandments of the Lord.

Name: Evan Scharf

We now have 134 temples operating in the world today. Our families are blessed through sacred temple ordinances. By being sealed to our family in the temple, we can be together forever. I can prepare now to be worthy to go to the temple when I am older.

SONG “I Love to See the Temple” (p. 95)

Name: Shannon Earl

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?... The temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

Name: Alexis Belz

Dressing modestly shows respect for Heavenly Father and myself.

Name: Daniel Tsimanis

Living the Word of Wisdom shows respect for my body.

Name: Izzy Metzer

Reading, watching, and listening to wholesome things keeps my mind clean.

Sing “The Lord Gave Me a Temple” (p 153)

Name: Morgan McLaughlin

The scriptures teach that the gospel will be preached in all the world. There are still some places where missionaries are not yet allowed to teach. President Monson asked us to pray for the opening of those areas, that we might share with everyone the joy of the gospel.

Name: Andrew Belz

There are things I can do now to prepare to be a missionary, such as studying the scriptures, gaining a testimony, keeping the commandments, paying tithing, and saving money.

Name: Audrey Carbine

I can be a missionary now by being a good example to my friends and neighbors. President Monson said, “Let us be neighbors of whom it might be said, quote ‘He or she was the best neighbor I ever had.’” We can be good missionaries by serving our neighbors.

Sing “We’ll Bring the World His Truth (Army of Helaman)” (p 172-173)

Name: Madison Metzer

The scriptures teach us that we can pray to Heavenly Father silently in our hearts anytime, anywhere and that we should thank Him for our blessings and ask Him for help. Heavenly Father will hear and answer my prayers.

Name: Hannah Maxey

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we know that we have a loving Father in Heaven. We lived with Him before we came to earth and we are not alone during this life. Heavenly Father has given us instructions to help us find our way back to Him. The scriptures contain the word of God. They teach us gospel principles and they testify of our Savior, Jesus Christ. There is power in the scriptures and I know that they are true.

Sing “Search, Ponder, and Pray” (p 109)
